Making homemade nut milks or nut butters? Be sure to soak the nuts overnight. Homemade almond milk is super easy to make and a healthier alternative to store-bought. Two ingredients – almonds and water.
Soak 1.5 cups of almonds in filtered water overnight (at least 4 hours and up to two days). Drain and rinse the almonds. Put the nuts with 1.5 cups of water in a high-speed blender for 1-2 minutes or until the texture is a puree. Add another 2 cups of water and a sweetener of your choice and blend. Use either a nut bag or cheesecloth to strain the nut pulp. This almond meal can be used as an ingredient in raw chocolate mousse or gluten-free bread.
When a spoon shows the care and skill necessary to carve it, it gives back each day the spirit that went into making it. Willie Sundqvist
YOU + YOUR WOODEN SPOON
The wooden spoon is an essential tool in any kitchen. Stirring. Scraping. Tasting. Natural. Lightweight. Durable. Ever so slightly yielding. There is something about wooden spoons, so tactile, so traditional, that connects us to the art and joy of cooking. Take care of your beautiful beloved wooden spoons by using soap and warm water to wash and towel dry. Using a mineral oil will help keep it nice and smooth.
COPPER is a trace mineral our body needs but cannot produce. Drinking water that has been stored or is served in copper vessels, according to Ayurveda, has multiple benefits, including balancing the three doshas. In what is called the Oligodynamic Effect, copper has a toxic effect as metal ions on fungi, virus, moulds, and other such microorganisms. Other metal ions with this same effect include silver and gold. And of course, it’s the must-have for the Moscow Mule.
